Sorority saves the last dance for World War II veteran

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) — Sorority members from the University of Southern Mississippi made the wish of a 92-year-old World War II veteran come true.

Sisters in the Phi Mu sorority hosted a dance for Paul Sonnier after one of the members who works at the hospice center Sonnier resides in became friends with the veteran.

Sonnier said he wanted just one more chance to dance with a pretty woman. He got that and more when the sorority sisters showed up to fill his dance card.

Even though he is bedridden with a broken foot, it was a day Sonnier won’t soon forget.
